The state of Linux on desktop in 2020 (tuananh.net)

From the aticle: "Almost everything works out of the box."... I've been hearing this for literally decades.

The problem with linux on the desktop is not that it is not improving, is that it always needs to improve.

I have been running various linux distros on laptop/desktop/servers since I was in diapers and can say they are very stable and ready for the masses ... Ubuntu 20.04 is a solid choice ... whenever a neighbor moans about their slow PC I convince them to allow me to cut over to a fully Ubuntu box to free them from the malaise of those two legacy OS choices ( MS and osx ) ... all it takes is courage to take the leap ... long live linux

"Works for Me" (TM)

But then, luckily, I've never had to use Windows as my personal daily desktop. I used UNIX from 1991 to 2001, then have used Linux ever since.

Also, I pick Lenovo hardware, with Intel peripherals.

Maybe we should look at the state of Linux on mobile.

Android is based on Linux and has a marketshare of about 85 pct according to a quick internet search.

Linux on the desktop is a huge success. It’s called ChromeOS.
