Although you appear to have been marked down for this, I kind of agree. Not that Apple paid him of course but that there is no real news in this article? If any other person had written this (not mainstream), I would argue no one would read it. It certainly wouldn't have made front page HN. It doesn't teach me anything I didn't already know and even if I didn't know it, it poses no real value apart from being very sales heavy.

No, I don't think Apple paid but I understand your point. This sort of fare is par for the course for Atwood. Honestly, it's pretty cliche stuff; people have been throwing "post-PC" around a lot lately.

There would have been a cost involved recently with giving a group of journalists private briefings on osx mountain lion recently. Which would have been done to get more press.
