The reason why relative dates are used is that you don't have to worry about timezones. You either have to get client's timezone and reformat dates, or use static timezone and let users do the conversions in their heads.

Personally I prefer relative dates, because that's the information I'm looking for. I don't care if some screenshots break; there shouldn't even be any reason to take screenshots of tweets etc.
